The State of Hawaii’s Ways and Means Committee has given their approval for a $11 billion supplemental budget which focuses on education and core services for the state. Committee chairman, David Ige, stated, “The committee found merit in the majority of the governor’s proposals and funded them as they pertain to maintaining the safety net and restoring the ability of government to perform certain necessary functions.” The budget will now go to the Senate floor for its approval. Then it will go before a joint House-Senate conference committee to negotiate any differences between their two budgets.
