The Bambooze Sports Lounge has just opened up on the first floor of the Waikiki Gateway Hotel. Located at 2070 Kalakaua Avenue, the Bambooze takes over the space previous occupied by Nick’s Fishmarket. Nick’s closed in 2009 after being a Waikiki landmark for 41 years. Response from the community has been quite mixed. Several nearby residents are happy to see a new business take occupancy of the vacant space at the Waikiki Gateway Hotel. However, other Waikiki community members have publicly stated that they would have rather seen another formal high-end restaurant at the Waikiki Gateway Hotel rather then what they fear will become another loud bar.
