Island Air to Expand Slightly

Island Air currently opperates an average of 48 flights per day to the smaller airports located throughout the Hawaiian Islands.  The airline, which has been in operation for the past 32 years, has announced that they will be replacing their current five aircraft with six larger planes, which will increase their seating capacity from 181 seats to 408 seats.  In addition, they will be hiring another 80 employees to increase their current workforce to 350 people.
Charlie Willis, the owner of Island Air, stated, “It’s not massive growth.  It’s more fleet renewal with just a little bit of growth. We’d like to have a little more capacity and a few more airplanes.  We’ve always been very complementary to the jet operators, and I think you’ll see us continue with that approach.”
