According to a report issued by Hospitality Advisors LLC, Oahu filled more hotel rooms than any of its competitors in the world for Hospitality Advisors’ island and sun destination category. Oahu had an 86.2 percent occupancy rate in 2012, which was higher even than Phuket, Thailand, which had a 86.1 percent occupancy rate. Maui was third in the world with 80.2 percent, and Kauai cane in fifth at 73.2 percent. The Big Island of Hawaii was actually sixth with 72.6 percent occupancy rate.
President and CEO for Hospitality Advisors, Joseph Toy, stated, “In particular, hotel occupancy on Kauai and the Big Island improved significantly against the competitive market during the first quarter, which saw all four Hawaii islands place in the top six destinations for occupancy.”
