North Shore Real Estate - City Decides Not to Sell Vacant Land

The City and County of Honolulu has decided not to sell several parcels of vacant land in Haleiwa and instead will build a canoe halau (house/storage building).  The property in question is approximately 3.4 acres large and is located near the Jameson's by the Sea restaurant and across from Kamehameha Highway from Haleiwa Beach Park.  The city had originally thought about selling the land to a private developer and ideas were bounced around including building a boutique hotel on the property.  However, several Haleiwa residents filed lawsuits against the city and they argued that the land was initially intended to become a park.  The lawsuit was dropped now that the Honolulu City Council has set aside $500,000 in the city budget for the public canoe halau.
