Appetizers:
Our group ordered a total of three appetizers. The rosemary garlic pork tenderloins with Chinese Bau Buns was probably the least interesting of the three. While the pork was good, the bau became rather soggy quickly.
The fresh ahi tartar in mini waffle cones was a fun take on sashimi. The fish was excellent, and this appetizer was visually appealing.
All agreed that the Asian duck taco with spicy mango salsa, scallions and avocado was by the far the best of the three appetizers that we tried. Would highly recommend this.
Entrees:
The Chinese style steamed fresh catch with ginger and green onion.
Thai style oxtail soup with spicy lemongrass broth.
Steamed fresh Manila clams and fresh fish with lemongrass broth. Also pictured steamed "Forbidden Rice".
Dessert:
Overall thoughts:
The service at Chef Chai's restaurant was excellent. The waitstaff was attentive, without being overbearing. The quality of food and the visual preparation was also excellent. Definitely worth your consideration if you are interested in trying a nice, local restaurant in Honolulu.
