According to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, there were a total of 254 cases filed in April 2012. This was a significant reduction from the 342 cases that were filed during the same month a year prior and marked the 14 consecutive month with lower case filings for the state. Honolulu County had 157 filings, down from 203 in April 2011. Maui County had 38 filings, down from 69 filings a year prior. Hawaii County (Big Island) had 45 filings and Kauai County had 14 filings.
