Electrical Rates for July 2013

The Hawaiian Electric Company has announced that the residential electrical rate for the island of Oahu would be 32.5 cents per kilowatt-hour for the month of July, a small decrease from the 34.7 cents per kilowatt-hour paid in July of the previous year.  However, the news wasn't as good on the island of Kauai, where the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative announced that residents will pay 42.3 cents per kilowatt-hour.  Maui Electric Co. customers will pay 36.1 cents per kilowatt-hour and the Big Island of Hawaii will pay 39.2 cents per kilowatt hour.  According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, in April 2013 the national average was 11.9 cents per kilowatt-hour.
