University Report Predicts Economic Growth for State in 2012

According to a report released by the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization (UHERO), the state of Hawaii should continue to recover economically in 2012.  The report stated that visitor arrivials should increase by 4.1 percent in 2012, and unemployment rates should drop down to 6.2 percent by the end of the year.  The report stated, “Newly scheduled (Japan) flights from Fukuoka and Osaka and the historically strong yen will be positives this year. Overall, we expect Japanese arrivals to rise more than 7 percent in 2012, reflecting in part the rebound that has already occurred (from the March 11 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear fallout).”
