Coco Palms Resort on Kauai Might Be Redeveloped

A local investment group, calling themselves Coco Palms Hui LLC, has announced that the have purchased the Coco Palms Resort on the Island of Kauai and plan to redevelop the property and restore it to its former glory. Originally built in 1953, the Coco Palms Resort was made famous when Elvis Presley filmed Blue Hawaii on its location.  However in 1992, the destructive winds and rain caused by Hurricane Iniki forced the resort to close down.  The plans include cleaning up the lagoon and building between 350 to 388 hotel rooms on its site.  The investment group is still waiting for demolition and building permits to be issued before they are allowed to proceed.
