According to a report released by the Hawaii Tourism Authority, visitor arrival and spending continued to increase in January 2013, but not at the record-breaking pace seen in 2012. A total of 681,854 visitors arrived in the Hawaiian Islands in January, an increase of 5.9 percent from the same month a year prior. These visitors spent $1.43 billion during the month, an increase of 5.7 percent from January 2012. Visitors spent an average of $201.60 per day, an increase of 4 percent. The Hawaii Tourism Authority is forecasting that for the entire year, visitor arrivals will increase by 3.5 percent and visitor spending will increase by 6.9 percent.
