Maui, Not Kauai, Has Most Rainfall in Hawaiian Islands

For decades, Mount Waialeale on the island of Kauai was noted as the “Wettest Spot” of the Hawaiian Islands, and received approximately 394 inches of rain annually.  However, a team of University of Hawaii Scientists just published a new paper showing that the Big Bog on the Island of Maui receives approximately 402 inches of rain per year.  The study was funded by the state of Hawaii’s Commission on Water Resource Management and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Hawaii.  For more information, please goto: rainfall.geography.hawaii.edu
