Bill May Allow Food Trucks to Reserve Parking Stalls

Honolulu City Councilman Ernie Martin is proposing a bill that will allow food trucks and lunch wagons to reserve the exclusive rights to park in specific stalls from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Under the current law, food vendors are forced to compete with normal motorist for parking stalls and are only allowed to park for the maximum posted parking time.  Martin feels that Bill 1 would give vendors the chance to have consistency in their operations as well as generate additional revenue for the city.  The proposed bill does not prevent food trucks or lunch wagons from operating as they are currently.
