RIMPAC Expected To Boost Hawaii Business

The Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) is the world’s largest international maritime warefare exercise and is held every two years off the shores of Hawaii.  This year’s event will bring together over 25,000 military personnel from 22 nations, and will include 40 ships, six submarines and 200 aircraft.  While it is unclear exactly how much of a boost RIMPAC will bring to the Hawaiian Islands, the tourism industry has already noted an uptick in retail spending and restaurant spending in Waikiki and other touristic destinations.
